Site Surveyor - Band 5

Our client is looking for a Site Surveyor to take accountability for the development and implementation of all post contract strategies, commercial functions and contract reporting on delegated project. You will be reporting to the Commercial Manager.

 

Main responsibilities:-

 

Health & Safety    

  • Regularly promote and ensure compliance with group SHE policies.

  • Regularly undertake site safety samples.

  • Review subcontractor safety samples with production management prior to certifying payments.

 

People     

  • Ensures PDR’s A&B, Training Manuals are completed regularly for reports and self.

  • Prepared to take up development opportunities outside of surveying expertise.

  • Regularly review the work of self and others to enhance results.        

 

Leadership            

  • Demonstrates personal drive and commitment to do a good job and get the right result.

  • Actively reviews the customer plans and uses his/her own experience to improve Company service and performance.

 

CR           

  • Demonstrates an understanding of his/her project CR strategies/policies.

  • Initiates creative and practical ideas that will enhance own project CR impact.     

 

Finance/Budget/Performance Objectives     

  • Demonstrates understanding of internal and external tender strategies/build up.

  • Contributes to project commercial strategies and takes ownership for his/her own subcontract packages.

  • Manage and complete subcontract procurement processes, negotiating and placing comprehensive packages.  Making sure variations are priced and issued, assertively negotiate with suppliers over claims as appropriate.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of subcontract T&Cs relevant to main contract; making sure payments are in accordance with the contract.

  • Manage and complete relevant subcontract and main contract contractual records including the production of claims, cost collection workbook information, measurements and valuation with regard to: - repairs and voids, direct labour, DSP’s, subcontractors, material and plant cost.

  • Ensures company obligations are complete for relevant subcontract and main contract packages.

  • Demonstrates intermediate awareness of main contract risk/opportunities

  • Maximise project cash/value by effective management of subcontract.

 

Customer   

  • Demonstrates understanding of client and consultant drivers.

  • Creates strategies to enhance company offer to the customer.

  • Develops positive relationships with customers and consultants.          

 

Process    

  • Regular review of company policies and best practices.

  • Demonstrates personal drive and commitment to do a good job and get the right result.

  • Makes good quality decisions and understand the importance of making profit and maximises opportunities.  

     

Local Variation

  • To liaise with supervisors & planners in order to ensure accurate and complete job pack information is kept and filed.

 

  • Mentor operatives and supervisors to ensure accurate site recording.

 

  • To ensure all costs incurred in the delivery of the service are appropriately coded, recorded authorised and recovered.

 

  • To liaise with operational site based delivery personnel, offering guidance in the appropriate use of schedule of rate codes / presentation of completed work tasks with a view to enhancing the accuracy and quality of commercial
     

Knowledge:

 

  • Construction methods and technology

  • Measurement and valuation

  • Administration of contract methods

  • Subcontract / materials orders and buying

  • Experience of using Schedule of Rates NHF SOR (Version 6)

  • Knowledge of Repairs & Maintenance

  • Knowledge of Social Housing

  • Experience in managing bonus/Incentive schemes

 

Qualifications:

  • MSc or BA in Quantity Surveying or similar relevant experience

  • The ability to form and develop relationships with PQS, design team and supply chain

  • Commercial skills, maximising value recovery, cost control and cash management

  • Good interpersonal skills – ability to work effectively with site management and the rest of the team

  • Ability to use / understand financial reports and final accounts
