Solar / LED Business Development Manager
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 plus commission
Location: Working remotely & an office of your choice - Warwickshire, South Wales or Berkshire

Our client is a seriously value led, fast moving renewable energy technology company who are looking for a value led, results orientated Business Development Manager who will challenge conventional thinking, build deep customer relationships and identify opportunities that can be converted into sales.


You will own the development of your sales pipeline within your territory and possess the drive, work ethic and stamina to deliver results. Ideally you will have relevant experience within the energy solutions or a similar solutions field with a strong track record in all stages of business-to-business sales lifecycle.


You will be responsible for your own lead generation process and gaining a clear understanding of prospects / client’s requirements. Be accountable for establishing and maintaining a pipeline and capable of delivering against the agreed sales, revenue and margin targets in order to deliver £500k+ of sales in year one.


You will have the opportunity to develop a trusted network of Public & Private sector clients within a specific location whilst developing a good understanding of the company’s value proposition to build a strong team and promote the company’s mission.


Role Profile

As a Business Development Manager, you'll need to:

  • Have strong business development skills with the ability to identify, initiate and support business opportunities including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers and services

  • Be able to relate the company’s mission to the bigger picture of climate change

  • Understand and believe in the company’s mission and can articulate it in a compelling and inspiring way

  • Have a good understanding of the businesses' services / value proposition and be able to advise others about them in a manner that promotes added value.

  • Research potential clients to establish interests and feasibility. Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these

  • Develop a business development strategy and set goals to increase brand awareness and increase engagement

  • Generate leads and cold call prospective customers

  • Build relationships, support new and existing clients

  • Negotiate pricing and draw up client contracts

  • Help to plan sales campaigns and create a sales pipeline

  • Carry out sales forecasts and analysis and present your findings

  • Think and work strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business as well as implement operational changes

  • Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate

  • Liaise with marketing to discuss promotional strategy and activities and promote Client’s positive social and environmental impact

  • Provide potential content for engaging social media posts and articles to support both the business and clients

  • Maintain a positive approach to work and stable performance even when under pressure

  • Exhibit passion and excitement for work and the company mission

  • Able to work independently, bringing new ideas with a growth mindset and a thirst for learning


Skills - To be successful, you will need the following :-


  • A minimum of 2 years B-2-B Sales experience within the energy solutions OR similar solution sales field, preferably within the Education and/or Manufacturing and Leisure sectors but not essential.

  • Ability to demonstrate strong sales track record.

  • Have good communication skills and the capacity to inspire individuals to give their best.

  • Possess the ability to plan and execute one’s own work in an efficient manner within the pre-determined time allowed to achieve identified objectives and ensure profitability.

  • Able to understand the legal environment within which contracts are negotiated and agreed.

  • Be able to generate new and innovative approaches to problems with the ability to look for and optimise, added value in all actions.

  • Able to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions from it.

  • Able to relate the company’s mission to the bigger picture of climate change and can articulate it in a compelling and inspiring way

  • Word, Excel, MS PPT, any Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, PVSOL or Dialux would be beneficial but not essential


You will also need DBS Clearance and be able to work in sensitive environments; schools and care homes and have a 5-year checkable history and hold a UK driving Licence.
