Forest Day

Working in collaboration with the Heart of England Forest, the children will be transported by bus to plant trees locally, where they will be encouraged to learn:

  • What animals use and depend on trees

  • About the parts of a tree and what they need to grow

  • How trees produce oxygen and store carbon

  • Identify tree varieties using classification charts

  • Investigate the age of trees and learn about their lifecycle

  • The different uses of forests

  • The impacts of human activities, deforestation, afforestation, reforestation and open burning

  • To create a connection with nature and a desire to protect and plant trees

All of the above support the school in meeting their national curriculum objectives
